Frequently Asked Questions
Porchfest is an afternoon of free music performed outside of people's homes -- on porches, patios, driveways, and lawns. It's a free, family-friendly neighborhood celebration of live music.
  • Designate an outdoor area on your private property that can accommodate musicians and guests.
  • Communicate with performers ahead of time about arrival, electrical access, and logistics. We'll email you their contact info on May 22.
  • Ensure your performance space has available space and is free of clutter or hazards.
  • Be home during the performance. Welcome the band and be a gracious host to festival attendees.
  • Allow musicians access to your porch during setup, performance, and breakdown.
  • Promote the event to family, coworkers, and friends in the weeks leading up to June 6.
  • Alert neighbors in advance to boost attendance and avoid noise complaints.
  • Count attendees and report numbers to medfordporchfest@gmail.com.
  • Consider providing a trash can to keep the neighborhood tidy.

This is an all-ages, alcohol-free event. We appreciate your help keeping it safe and welcoming for everyone.

Medford Porchfest runs from 12pm to 5pm. You may or may not have musicians performing the entire window, depending on how many groups you choose to host.
Yes, property owners only, please -- for liability reasons.
Nope! If you know musicians you'd like to host, you can indicate that during registration and they can do the same. Any remaining bands will be assigned on May 22 if space is available.
Sure! Register separately as both a host and a performer, and indicate on both forms that you'd like to be matched. Note: if you don't also register as a host with your address, you may be assigned to a different porch.
We'd appreciate it if you can make water available to musicians, but it's not required. Anything else is entirely up to you.
No, but it would help if you can arrange with the band where they can park temporarily to drop off equipment.
We're hoping for perfect weather. There will not be a rain date. If we need to cancel, notifications will be sent by email and posted on all social media channels on Friday, June 5.
Absolutely! Anything you want to do to make your porch a fun place to be is welcome. We just ask that you don't block the sidewalks.
The City of Medford encourages residents to take this opportunity to host a block party! If you'd like to close part of a street, you must submit an application and obtain approval. All other Medford streets must operate as normal with no traffic interference.
We hope you have a great time at Medford Porchfest. By agreeing to perform, host, volunteer and/or attend you also agree to participate at your own risk. You agree to hold performers, hosts, volunteers, and/or organizers free of any claim for damages in the event of accident, injury, or disappointment.

Thanks to Newton Porchfest for their awesome FAQ for porches, which we have modeled this page on.
